Orange cord

In other parts of the world, a synthetic grass mat has been used to collect current-borne sediments enabling a protective mat of sand to accumulate. In Boa Vista, Cape Verde Islands the natural seabed is composed of water-worn pebbles of volcanic rock. These are easy to handle underwater and a layer of 100 mm pebbles overlain with some well-chosen boulders protects the site from marine and human interference. The insertion of a short tail of orange cord serves as buried marker. It is discrete, moving gently in the current, and to the casual intruder is much like other marine growth and debris. [Pg.10]

The mann is spilled forth like a colored cord. The vegetalista in the red shirt receives the yana-mariri [black mann]. The white-shirted vegetalista takes in the white cord or the yura-mariri, as the blue-shirted shaman receives the puka-mariri [the red mann]. The yellow-shirted vegetalista receives the orange-colored mann. Each of these mariris has a certain role to play in the vegetalista s science, his ciencia palistica. [Pg.23]

Byproducts give an orange-yellow color yellow crumbs are formed. The degree of xanthation (of cellulose) is low fewer than 0.5 hydroxyl groups need be derivat-ized to accomplish dissolution in dilute alkali. The polymer concentration for a textile yarn would be around 9% and the alkali concentration 5-6%. Eor a tire cord the polymer/alkali ratio is lower, both concentrations being 7%, for example. The... [Pg.948]
