Oral solids containers

Most adults consume about 25 g of lactose per day (500 mL of milk) without symptoms.When symptoms appear, they are usually mild and dose-related. The dose of lactose in most pharmaceuticals seldom exceeds 2 g per day. It is unlikely that severe gastrointestinal symptoms can be attributed to the lactose in a conventional oral solid-dosage form, especially in adults who have not previously been diagnosed as severely lactose-intolerant. However, anecdotal reports of drug-induced diarrhea due to lactose intolerance have been made following administration of pharmaceutical preparations containing lactose. 

Clarithromycin occurs as a white crystalline solid that is practically insoluble in water, sparingly. soluble in alcohol, and freely soluble in aeetone. It is provided as 250- and 500-mg oral tablets and as granules for the preparation of aqueous oral suspensions containing 25 or 50 mg/mL. 

Many liquid and solid oral drugs contain saccharin as a sweetener. Adverse effects resulting from pharmaceuticals include pruritus, urticaria, eczema, photosensitivity, prurigo, wheezing, nausea, diarrhea, tongue blister, tachycardia, headache, and sensory neuropathy. I85 88 ... 

Rigid blister packs may serve as a primary pack for a range of oral solid products (tablets, capsules, etc.), as a secondary display pack, to provide additional protection (physical and climatic) to a primary pack or as a security tamper-evident system for a product or pack. Soft blisters made from a flexible base can also be produced to contain liquids or semiliquids which can be dispensed by exposing a dispensing orifice. 

Preparations are designated as follows O, oral solids L, oral liquids I, Injection S, suppository T, topical. Many Hj-receptor antagonists also are available in preparations that contain multiple drugs. 

Breaking points are the availability of the raw materials and primary containers of reliable suppliers, the feasibility of analysis of the drug substance and the preparation and the availability of equipment. As an example, preparation processes such as tableting, freeze-drying or aseptic production are accessible in a few pharmacies. The preparation of oral solids with controlled release is not possible in pharmacies mainly to lacking equipment (fluidised-bed techniques and instrumental analysis, etc). Working with radiopharmaceuticals also requires very specific facilities, as is the case with preparation of solid dosage forms with hazardous substances. 

Many active substances are sensitive to light, and therefore, oral solid dosage forms have to be packaged in a light-protecting container. This is especially relevant to capsules with a transparent shell. Powders are packaged in a carton...
