Optical absorbance measurements

A Varian Cary 100 model UWis spectrophotometer was used for optical absorbance measurements. The absorbance measrrrements were conducted in situ for the study of the kinetics of adsorption process. In all experiments, the size and mass of ACC was kept as constant as possible (about 18.0 0.1 mg). Weighed ACC pieces were pre-wetted by leaving in water for 24 h before use. The idea of using pre-wetted ACC originates from previons findings that pre-wetting enhances the adsorption process [9, 11],... [Pg.227]

As DDAB contains a quaternary N in the head group, the cationic charge is independent of pH. The stoichiometry in Eq. (3) for the [MCI, ]2- (/i = 4, M = Pt, Pd n = 6, M = Pt) complex ions has been established by XPS and optical absorbance measurements. The (PtClb)2 anion has also been incorporated into LB films using a tertiary amine surfactant (38). In this case the charge of the head group, and therefore the complexation to the anion, is pH dependent. [Pg.241]

The resist parameters A, B and C are normally determined from optical absorbance measurements of exposed and unexposed resist films. ( ) The B parameter is obtained from the absorbance of a film that is given a sufficient exposure dose to destroy all the photoactive compound. The quantity A+B is obtained from the absorbance of an unexposed resist film and C is determined from the initial slope of an absorbance versus exposure time plot. [Pg.293]

As before, PCS analysis of the suspension provides clear indication of the exi.stence of aggregative phenomena in the system. Sometimes, even a simple turbidity (i.e., optical absorbance) measurement may help in deciding if a deeper stability analy.sis is needed. [Pg.440]

Miller et al. (1988) have developed a thin (20 pm) polyvinyl butyral film containing the leucocyanide of pararosaniline, which changes fi om colorless to pink in its useful dose range of 2—100 kGy. The spectrophotometric measurement of the irradiated film is performed at 554 nm at the absorption maximum of the radiation-induced optical band. Another version of the same film contains the same dye and a radiation insensitive additive. Since the optical absorbance measured at 650 nm depends only on the thickness of the film, thus using the difference of the optical absorbance values measured at 554 nm and 650 nm respectively, as response, the measurement of thickness becomes unnecessary. A third version of this type of film is provided with adhesive backing and UV protective cover and it is to be used for reflected light measurement with potential for label dosimetry applications (Kovacs et al. 2000b). [Pg.2301]

Another anomaly exists in the graph mentioned in the previous section depicting the band gap values on concentration dependencies as determined from optical absorbance measurements (Fig. 3a). In the area of high nanoparticles concentration the band gap values become smaller than the bulk values of the crystalline CdS. [Pg.175]

CdSe NPs are one typical kind of quantum dots, which can be synthesized by colloidal chemistry methods and can be doped into sol-gel materials. Optical absorbance measurements of colloidal solutions were performed using a spectrophotometer with a resolution of 1.0 nm. The PL spectra were collected with a spectrofluorophotometer with a resolution of 1.0 nm, under excitation at 390 nm [67]. [Pg.732]
