Operating Configurations

There are several operating configurations that are used in industrial practice depending on flow rate of the product, product characteristics and desired final concentrations of the product which is either to be retained by the membrane or recovered in the permeate. [Pg.289]

The MCI is created by detonating or igniting a test round(s), or item(s) with all items in the operational configuration in the shield, including the equipment or reasonable simulation thereof, that performs the intended function on the munitions. If the shield is intended to be used for a variety of rounds, the one(s) having the most severe effects for overpressure, fragmentation, thermal emissions and shape charge effects is to be tested. [Pg.297]

Also included are sections on how to analyze mechanisms that affect flux feature models for prediction of micro- and ultrafiltration flux that help you minimize flux decline. Descriptions of cross-flow membrane filtration and common operating configurations clarify tf e influence of important operating parameters on system performance. Parameters irdlucnc irxj solute retention properties during ultrafiltration arc identified and discussed or treated in detail. [Pg.150]

Sab She- Although Ackers et al. provided some reasons why the interaction energies should conform to these assumptions, these are not sufficient for the free energies of interactions (see also the next subsection). Table 5.2 is almost a reproduction of Table I from Senear et aZ. (1986). It is clear from the column headed Operator configuration and footnote a to Table 5.2 that the symbol o denotes... [Pg.184]

Applications of kinetic principles to industrial reactions are often useful. Initial kinetic studies of the esterification reaction are usually conducted on a small scale in a well stirred batch reactor. In many cases, results front batch studies can be used in the evaluation of the esterification reaction in a continuous operating configuration. [Pg.582]

Direct bubbling into the PSH and air sparging were also used to enhance SVE recovery rates. Again, the hydrocarbon recovery rates (and supplemental fuel use) and the results of the periodic mini-pilot tests provided the basis on which to determine the SVE and AS operating configurations. [Pg.357]

The operational configuration for the reactor can be a primary method of classification. [Pg.462]

Figure 9.14A shows the operational configuration and typical profiles for cell and substrate concentration in a batch culture. Figure 14B shows the concentration of cell, product (mAb), and substrates (glucose and glutamine) for a myeloid transfectoma in batch cultivation. [Pg.235]

Figure 9.16A shows a typical operational configuration of a continuous bioreactor culture. In Figure 9.16B, the cell concentration data of a real continuous culture, operated at three different dilution rates, are presented. The rectangles indicate the different steady states observed, whereas the arrows show the moment of change in dilution rate. Furthermore, a guide line has been included in Figure 9.16B to help interpretation of the cell concentration profile. [Pg.241]

The pressure fed screens are connected in a manner that gives a countercurrent passage of water with respect to fiber in order to achieve high water use efficiency. Several different operating configurations for using these devices in a starch factory have been described.199-201 The number of successive units may vary with the manufacturer s goal of complete starch recovery. Typically, finished fiber contains 15-20% starch, about half free and half bound. [Pg.416]

Since the minimization of entropy production is not always an economic criterion, it is necessary to relate the overall production and distribution of entropy to the economic analysis by considering various processes with different structures and operating configurations. [Pg.177]

Example 5.5 Equipartition principle in separation processes Extraction Since the minimization of entropy production is not always an economic criterion, it is necessary to relate the overall entropy production and its distribution to the economy of the process. To do this, we may consider various processes with different operating configurations. For example, by modifying an existing design, we may attain an even distribution of forces and hence an even distribution of entropy production. [Pg.289]

In another operating configuration, we can compare the respective size and durations for specified duty and entropy production. Equations (5.71) and (5.72) are still valid, and we have P > Pav2 and J = J2, which yield... [Pg.291]

Effects of sample age, duration of exposure to shear and heat, may be very important and must be considered. In the demonstration scale phase, the operating configuration (e.g., batch, feed and bleed, continuous) specified for the production scale system must be used. Carefiil consideration must be given to the total pressure drop in the flow chaimels at the desired cross-flow velocity at the final concentration, to ensure proper design of the feed and recirculation pumps. [Pg.316]
