Olson studies

A number of hydrocarbon radicals having multiple bonds at the radical centre have also been trapped in inert matrices and studied by IR spectroscopy. Thus, ethynyl radical was obtained by vacuum UV photolysis (9) of matrix-isolated acetylene (Shepherd and Graham, 1987) as well as when acetylene and argon atoms excited in a microwave discharge were codeposited at 12 K (Jacox and Olson, 1987). An appearance of diacetylene bands was observed when the matrices were warmed up, while the absorptions of the radical C2H disappeared. Detailed isotopic studies of D-and C-labelled ethynyl radicals showed a surprisingly low frequency of the C=C bond stretching vibration at 1846 cm instead of c.2100cm for a true C=C triple bond (the band at 2104 cm was attributed to the... [Pg.35]

DTBP also has been used to investigate the dimerization and actin bundling properties of vil-lin (George et al., 2007), the interaction of the Mrell complex with RPA (Olson et al., 2007), the study of gamma-secretase complex assembly (Spasic et al., 2007), and the multi-protein assembly of Kv4.2, KChIP3 and DPP10 (Jerng et al., 2005). [Pg.256]

M(iii) and Cn(m) complexes. In early classic studies the redox chemistry of tetraaza macrocyclic complexes of Ni(n) and Cu(n) (of the Curtis and reduced Curtis type) was investigated in acetonitrile (Olson Vasilevskis, 1969 1971). These authors were the first to report the electrochemical generation of Ni(m) and Cu(m) complexes of such N4-cyclic ligands. Since this time, a considerable number of related studies, involving both nickel and copper macrocyclic species, have been reported. [Pg.211]

More recent determinations of serum iron have been reported by Schmidt 57), who simply diluted with lanthanum chloride solution, and by Tavenier and Hellen-doorn58), who deproteinized samples in the latter study, iron in the protein precipitate is analyzed to correct the serum iron level. Uny etal. 59) determined serum iron, using ultrasonic nebulization of the sample to increase the sensitivity. Olson and Hamlin 6°) have determined serum iron and total iron-binding capacity. Proteins are precipitated and iron (III) is released by heating with trichloroacetic acid. [Pg.89]

The carbon-fluorine bond is relatively resistant to metabolism. In vitro studies with rabbit, rat, and human hepatic microsomes and rat hepatocytes (Olson and Surbrook 1991 Olson et al. 1990a, 1990b) identified the major route of metabolism of HFC-134a as oxidation by P-450 2E1 to 2,2,2,1-tetrafluoroethanol elimination of hydrogen fluoride or fluoride ion yields 2,2,2-trifluoroacetaldehyde, which is further oxidized to trifluoroacetic acid. [Pg.159]

Reactivities of pentacyanoferrates(II) in micelles and reversed micelles have been studied. The hexadecyltrimethylammonium cation causes a modest increase in rate constant for the anion-anion reaction [Fe(CN)5(4-CNpy)] + CN. This can equally well be interpreted according to the pseudophase model developed from the Olson-Simonson treatment of kinetics in micellar systems or by the classical Bronsted equation. [Pg.428]
