In March 2004, Crab was observed for a total of 3.7 hours ON-source and 4.2 hours OFF-source over a zenith angle range between 25° and 50°. The ALPHA distributions for ON and OFF data samples after selection cuts for SIZE greater than 2000 photons are shown in Figure 6. A clear signal is observed for lower values of ALPHA with an excess of 1302 events and a significance... 

Here we present an analysis of the observations performed in February 2004 for a total of 1.6 hours ON source and 0.8 hours OFF source over a zenith angle range between 25° and 50°. A standard analysis has been applied, giving a number of excesses of 1594 events (25a). The performance of the source position evaluation was evaluated by performing a false source method, which yields the sky plot shown in Figure 7. 

Measurements were done with the HEGRA CT1 telescope during November l-8th 2002. The standalone HEGRA CT1 telescope has a reflector area of 10 m2 and a camera of 127 PMs, each one with 0.25° FOV. Datasets were obtained with the Crab in the central pixel, and OFF source runs were also taken to check for any systematics. For optical observations the central pixel PM was modified. The DC branch, designed to monitor the DC current of the pixel, was adjusted to detect pulses of ms (timescale of the pulse width), and the AC branch, which is designed to transmit the ns fast signals generated by the Cherenkov showers was removed (De Ona-Wilhelmi et al.).

Great care has been taken over the design so to ensure the suppression of the main sources of systematic effects. Both instruments adopt the technique of rocking collimators, continuously pointing on and off source (with a period of the order of a minute) to monitor the background.

In the Crank-Nicolson technique we have an extra round-off source. Recall (Sect. 5.2) that, in solving the system of equations for CN, we recursively generate an array of a and b coefficients and then, having determined c, recursively generate all other c.
