The latter point of involvement and interest of various scientific disciplines in research in ocular toxicology is not only established by the richly diverse membership of our Society, but also exemplified by the broad audience at our present meeting here in Annecy, including clinical ophthalmologists, physicians, chemists, biochemists, veterinarians, biologists, and pharmacists, representing academia, the chemical industry in the broadest sense, and the regulatory authorities. 

I am quoting our President-elect Keith Green (1992), when I repeat that in the past 20 years ocular toxicology has undergone encouraging progress in various fields ...
