Object-oriented programming techniques

The overall structure of the proposed framework is shown in Figure 1. Client-Server structure is used to design the system where PHASuite is built as a server and process monitoring module is a client. Therefore, PHASuite can be used offline or online depending on the situation. The complete system has been developed using C++ running under Windows system. Object-oriented programming techniques were used for the development of the system. 

In distributed control systems, computers and other components from a number of vendors may be part of the network. Consequently, software compatibility and portability is a major concern. Portable software is used to ensure consistent computer performance and to avoid duplicating development efforts. Object-oriented programming techniques are employed to minimize customization for different computers and applications.

This activity is similar to the problem of object-oriented design, and the same notation and techniques can be applied. Solving a complex business or engineering problem often requires more than one program. One or more programs that run in tandem to solve a common problem is known collectively as an application system (or system). The more modem technique of object-oriented development dispenses with the notion of the program altogether and replaces it with the concept of an object (Goldberg and Robson, 1983 Meyer and Bobrow, 1992 Stefik and Bobrow, 1985 Stroustrup, 1994).
