Figure 21. All the 3300 galaxies from Figure 20 are included in this colour-colour plot. The shaded region shows how the 140 candidate Lyman break galaxies are selected for subsequent spectroscopic follow-up. The symbol size is proportional to the object magnitude circles denote objects detected in all three bands, while triangles are lower limits in (Un — G) for U dropouts. Figure 21. Consequently, within an industrial environment, hyperspectral NIR imaging has been used primarily to improve object detection previously carried out using RGB cameras and optical systems. Yet, the many other advantages of these systems make them highly suited to not only on-line analysis but also high-speed laboratory analyses for product grading. [Pg.272]

In the applicahons described above (Sections 8.3.2 and 8.3.3), the contaminants were located on the surface or subsurface of the food product, or as separate bodies in a stream of other objects. Detection was mainly carried out on the basis of spectral absorption properties. Even more challenging is the detection of internal foreign bodies. [Pg.282]

Radar sensors are used for single functions, where the function is based on one sensor type only, other functions are based on a sensor data fusion, where the objects detected by the different sensors are compared and matched. By doing this, stable, quick, and reliable object information is achieved. [Pg.379]

In general, structures of supramolecular objects of hybrid proteins on the surfaces were individual for each set of fused molecules and different from lysozyme fibrils. Ball-like objects were the most typical objects detected on the surfaces in the experiments with the hybrid proteins. The structure is illustrated in Fig. 3a by typical SPM image. The size of the balls in these structures seemed dependent on the type of hybrid protein but quantitative description of the dependence requires additional studies. [Pg.67]

A numerical algorithm was developed to objectively detect the crack length in the SLB specimen as well. Because the debond propagated to the interface, however, only data from the initial, known debond were used. Once the crack length was determined, the mixed-mode energy release rates were calculated using equations developed by Blackman et al. [8] ... [Pg.60]

Robot vacuum cleaners have become quite popular for domestic use. These are in effect small AGVs equipped with a vacuum cleaning system. They do usually have an onboard navigation and object detection system so that they are self-navigating within a given area, either a single room or all rooms on one floor in a house. [Pg.1075]

Anisometry and fractal dimension are also used as parameters for characterizing fillers, the former to predict various mechanical properties of filled compounds and vulcanizates and the latter to investigate the surface structure. Anisometry, which is always subject to distribution, is found to widen with the fillers investigated, with an increase in the dimensions of the objects detected. [Pg.22]
