The most severe limitation of the sacrificial anode CP technique is the small driving force, which restricts its use to conductive environments, short current throws and, marine use apart from, wellpower supply, the danger of overprotection, the difficulty of achieving a satisfactory potential profile over a complex shape and the possibility of improper connection causing corrosion of the structure intended to be protected are the major disadvantages of the impressed current CP technique. [Pg.410]

Northern Victoria Land in Fig. 4.1 extends from the David Glacier northward to the Pennell and Oates coasts. The width of the Transantarctic Mountains of this area increases to more than 400 km measured at the latitude of Cape Adare. The area is traversed by the Lillie, Rennick, and Matusevich glaciers all of which flow northwest and discharge ice into the South Pacific Ocean. Also, the Tucker, Borchgrevink, Mariner, Aviator, Campbell, and Priestley glaciers (not all of which are identified in Fig. 4.1) flow southeast into the Ross Sea. [Pg.99]

The Bowers Terrane is located east of the Wilson Terrane and is separated from it by the Lanterman fault zone which has been traced from the Bowers Mountains on the Oates Coast to the Lady Newness Bay on the Borchgrevink Coast of the Ross Sea. The Bowers Terrane appears to be a sliver of a much larger land-mass that originally included an oceanic island-arc system. It is composed of oceanic tholeiites interbed-ded with and overlain by fossiliferous sedimentary rocks that were deposited in a marine environment. The rocks were compressed by westward-directed forces that caused the rocks to be folded and faulted. However, the metamorphic grade is lowermost green-schist facies. The eastern boundary of the Bowers... [Pg.131]
