Nylon 66, cartridge filtration

Other, more recently developed, uses include microwave oven parts, transparent pipelines, chemical plant pumps and coffee machine hot water dispensers. One exceptional use has been to produce, by an extrusion moulding process, very large rollers for textile finishing for use where cast nylons cannot meet the specification. Also of growing interest are medical equipment applications that may be repeatedly steam-sterilised at 134°C, filtration membranes and cartridges for ink-jet printers. 

Attach a 25-mm Acrodisc nylon Alter cartridge to the LuerLok fitting of a 10-mL disposable syringe, and transfer approximately 5 mL of filtrate to the syringe barrel. 

The Fibrotex filter may be considered to be a unique type of cartridge filter. It is formed from a central perforated core surrounded by loose nylon or polyester yams. The yarns are attached to two circular end plates and prior to filtration one of the end plates is rotated until the yams tighten... 

Membrane cartridge filters are extremely flexible and high in tensile strength. The cartridge construction is based on a multi-layer combination of filter media in pleated format. Those polymers that have been used extensively as filtration media in coarser grades are now widely used as membrane filters. A typical format has a cartridge fabricated from a pleated filter pack, which contains a very fine polyolefin fibre prefilter layer, two nylon membranes of the same pore (0.2 pm) size, and a downstream polypropylene support. The layers of nylon microporous membrane and polypropylene prefilter are pleated together and snpported by an inner snpport core. The end-caps and core are melt sealed in polypropylene.
