Nonlinear fitting

Initial Situation A product contains three active components that up to a certain point in time were identified using TLC. Quantitation was done by means of extraction/photometry. Trials to circumvent the time-consuming extraction steps by quantitative TLC (diffuse reflection mode) had been started but were discontinued due to reproducibility problems. The following options were deemed worthy of consideration  [Pg.180]

HPLC (ideal because separation, identification and quantitation could be accomplished in one step). [Pg.180]

Diode-array UV-spectrophotometer with powerful software (although the spectra overlapped in part, quantitation could be effected in the [Pg.180]

Conventional UV/VIS spectrophotometer (manual measurements from strip-chart recorder traces and calculations on the basis of fitted polynomials the extraction/separation step remains). [Pg.181]

Quantitative TLC (an additional internal standard would be provided the extraction/separation step could be dropped). [Pg.181]

The method of Lew and Angus allows the advantage of nonlinear fitting techniques to yield competitive antagonist pKB values. [Pg.121]

Nonlinear fitting techniques (for example, to Equation 12.3) are used to fit the data points to curves. The ICSo values form the fit curves are shown in Table 12.2b. [Pg.256]

The data points are fit to a function with nonlinear fitting procedures. For this example, Equation 12.5 is used ... [Pg.257]

Scatchard analysis, a common linear transformation of saturation binding data used prevalently before the widespread availability of nonlinear fitting software. The Scatchard transformation (see Chapter 4.2.1), while easy to perform, can be misleading and lead to errors. [Pg.282]

A simplex-optimization program that incorporates this scheme is used in the example nonlinear fitting (Section 4.2). [Pg.80]

Relaxation data may be analyzed by two general methods a two-parameter, linear regression and a three-parameter, nonlinear, fitting procedure. " " The first method requires an accurate experimental determination of Mo, which is both difficult and time-consuming. Furthermore, the... [Pg.142]

A nonlinear fit weights the initial data points more heavily and gives a better description of the decline in oxamyl residues during the critical period when the residues are a concern in the evaluation of worker safety. The nonlinear curve fitting approach has been accepted by regulatory agencies for the determination of pesticide half-life determinations in soil when the decline data do not fit a linear first-order curve. [Pg.972]

It is also possible to apply a nonlinear fit to In k versus l/T, which is known as a modified Arrhenius plot. For instance, one can use an equation such as... [Pg.41]

Fig. 5. Sedimentation equilibrium analysis of hemopexin domain interactions. Mixtures of N- and C-domain were centrifuged to equilibrium at 25 C in the absence (upper panels) and presence (lower panels) of heme. Nonlinear fitting procedures were performed to obtain apparent values, and residuals of the fits are shown in the top portion of each panel (106). Fig. 5. The calculation of the phenomenological function a(P T) of the flow-equilibrium from the measured calibration curves, shown in Figs. 7 and 8, is based on a nonlinear fit of Eq. (19) to these curves. It proceeds by the same method 4) as applied to the calculation of the reversible-thermodynamic data from Table 2 in Section 3.1 the phenomenological function a(P T), obtained in this way, is shown in Table 3 b. With this, the relative perturbation, 8Q/K, of the thermodynamic equilibrium by the transport can be calculated according to Eq. (20). [Pg.23]

In the related study [29], Gutman et al. have pointed out that other nonlinear fits to Fe are not much better than the quadratic one, but inclusion of the nonlinear terms is absolutely necessary to fulfill the condition (38). [Pg.94]

We perform nonlinear fitting using the Levenberg-Marquardt method implemented in the MRQMIN routine [75], From the experimental end, eight families of data are involved, namely, x (T) and x jT) at four frequencies, taken from Ref. 64. From the theory end, we employ formulas (4.121)-(4.124) with the numerical dispersion factors. The results of fitting are presented in Figures 4.6 and 4.7 and Table I. [Pg.465]
