Nomenclature generator, AutoNom

Throughout the chapter Chemical Abstract (CA) nomenclature is used. In the tables demonstrating the ring systems treated in this review (Tables 1-5) the Autonom Nameprogram generated names are also given, if they are different from the CA names. [Pg.259]

MDL Information Services, Inc. offers free software downloads at http // www.mdli.com/cgi/dynamic/downloadsect.html7uid= key= id = 1. These include AutoNom Standard (automatic nomenclature), which generates IUPAC chemical names directly from graphical structures created in ISIS/Draw or registered in ISIS/ Base. [Pg.149]

The next three chapters concern chemical nomenclature. One from Hull University deals with integration of structure-based systems and nomenclature. Janusz Wisniewski, in a popularly acclaimed presentation, demonstrated Beilstein s AUTONOM program at the conference and his chapter describes this microcomputer program for generating lUPAC names from structural input. Val Metanomski and Joy Merritt provided a poster on Chemical Abstracts Service conventions for macromolecules. [Pg.503]

The present author has designed, written and implemented the AutoNom program and it is the purpose of this article to describe the current status of the methodologies and algorithms used for such computer-assisted generation and conversion of systematic chemical nomenclature. [Pg.1883]

Preliminary investigations prior to the development of the AutoNom computer system had concluded that the hierarchical principle underlying the approach to a chemical name construction (parent, substituent, substituent-on-substituent, etc.) should be followed as faithfully as possible while designing the appropriate data format for the name generation analysis. It was decided to implement the format based on an ordered binary tree concept as fulfilling the majority of both nomenclature and system-performance requirements. The data structure maintained in the memory of the computer during nomenclature-guided analysis of the input compound will be hereafter referred to as the name tree . [Pg.1891]
