Harmata et al. have developed a tandem Sonogashira/nitrogen-addition reaction of acetylenes 261 to sulfonamide 262 to prepare S(vi)-oxidized compounds 263 and 264 (Scheme 36) <20050L143>. When R = alkyl (e.g., Pr"), the 1,2-thiazine 263 is the major product (70%) formed via a endocyclization process, along with a minor amount (20%) of exocyclized product 264, while the five-membered ring product 264 (81%) is preferred when R= Ph. 

Thieno[2,3-f]pyridine derivatives, 51, undergo methylation at the ring nitrogen with methyl iodide however, the thieno[2,3-f]pyridinium salts that are produced are very labile and they are readily reduced by NaBH4. Additional reaction with methyl iodide leads to quaternary ammmonium salts <2005JME4972>. 

The coordinated azide undergoes addition reactions with a variety of unsaturated compounds. Thus with carbon monoxide under very mild conditions the azide is converted to isocyanate with the loss of nitrogen (equation 17).293-295... 

Since it has been observed that the hydrogen atoms attached to nitrogen in amines were not easily abstractable in free radical reactions (6, 74), it may be assumed that the aldehydic part of the formamide molecule will be more reactive in the photoaddition reactions than the amino function, thus leading to the following addition reaction with terminal olefins,... 

Behavior of Carbethoxynitrene toward Polyisoprene Structures. After studying the reaction of a number of divalent carbon derivatives with polyenes (17, 18), attention was directed to monovalent nitrogen derivatives. Of these, carbethoxynitrene, N—C02Et, gives addition reactions with olefins (12, 13). It can be produced either by photolysis of ethyl azidoformate (12), or by a-elimination (13) (Figure 5).
