New Research Methods

Cockburn, Henderson, and Stern (1999) emphasize the importance of organizational factors and the distribution of power relationships within the firm for the speed at which new research methods are employed. Some firms are more suited to the new technology than others. The authors note that all their informants emphasized that differences in the historical experience of the firm, in their knowledge capital, were critically important in shaping the adoption decision (p. 19). 

Conjunction of the chromatographic methods of component separation with methods of analysis of biological properties provides great opportunities in their analysis. This has made the search for bioactive substances easier and will aid the future development of new research methods. 

In recent years, a new research method was developed to determine total starch content of potato dry matter by comparing the gelatinization enthalpy of potato dry matter and standard starch using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) (Liu et al., 2005).

We wish only to point out how the new research methods developed in the last ten years have permitted a much more detailed knowledge of the distribution of the fatty acids in vegetable oil triglycerides. 

Therefore, the main goals for teaching HOS as part of the chemistry curriculum is to present to the students with the idea that science is a human endeavor and that science is an ever developing entity. Students should understand that throughout history theories changed based on the inquiry and research conducted by human beings (scientists). In addition, students should be aware of the fact that many theories that prevail now may change in the future based on new research methods and new scientific theories.
