This chapter surveys the neurochemistry of lipid messengers, as well as the mechanisms by which bioactive lipids accumulate upon stimulation in response to injury, cerebral ischemia, seizures, neurotrauma or neurodegen-erative diseases, and their significance in pathophysiology.
