Neither schemes

The type of electrophoresis we have been discussing so far is called capillary zone electrophoresis. Separation is based on differences in electrophoretic mobility. If the capillary wall is negative, electroosmotic flow is toward the cathode (Figure 26-20) and the order of elution is cations before neutrals before anions. If the capillary wall charge is reversed by coating it with a cationic surfactant (Figure 26-24) and the instrument polarity is reversed, then the order of elution is anions before neutrals before cations. Neither scheme separates neutral molecules from one another. [Pg.615]

An example has these vertices defined by weight combinations [5/6, 1/6], [1/2,1/2] and [1/6, 5/6]. This is a paradoxical scheme whose limit curve has strange properties that we shall deduce as examples later in the book. We call it just the ternary neither scheme , as its main function is to illustrate that possibility. [Pg.53]

For precision we shall refer to schemes of odd arity which are both primal and dual as both schemes, and to schemes which are neither primal or dual as neither schemes, but the reader should be aware that other authors refer to them as primal and dual respectively. [Pg.54]

This is a fairly tough question. Because the ternary neither scheme does not have unit eigenrows for the vertices and mid-spans as it stands, we have to take its square, thus creating a both scheme. [Pg.200]

Finally, receiver performance for the cases of phase detection with a maximum-likelihood criterion [7.84] and phase-shift keying (PSK) have also been obtained [7.59]. While PSK is definitely superior to phase detection, neither scheme provides very satisfactory error probabilities. [Pg.286]

J. E. Snoke The actual role of arsenate, of ADP, and also, to make it complete, of magnesium in the exchange reaction is really not knowm, and neither scheme as proposed can explain all of these requirements. As far as the arsenate is concerned, t seems quite clear that an arsenolysis reaction does not occur. [Pg.142]

Neither of the above schemes for forming the nitric acidium ion involves water. However, the addition of moderate quantities of water depresses the zeroth-order rate by up to a factor of four, without disturbing the kinetic form. This last fact shows that an inappreciable fraction of the nitronium ions is reacting with water, and therefore to explain the results it is necessary to postulate the existence of a means, involving water, for the consumption of nitric acidium ions ... [Pg.44]

Erlenmeyer et al. also examined the behavior of 4-methyl-, 4,5-dimethyl-, and 5-methylthiazole in the reaction with benzaldehyde at 160°C in the presence of ZnClj (439, 510) they were able to show that neither the 4- nor 5-methyl groups reacted under these conditions and that the condensation occurred at the sole unsubstituted 2-position (Scheme 114). [Pg.144]

Modijications to the Recope Cycle. The recovery system is a principal capital cost in a kraft mill. Consequently, any recovery process that is less expensive to build can improve pulping economics. There have been numerous attempts to improve the kraft recovery process. Two examples are the direct alkaline recovery scheme (DARS) and the autocausticizing scheme using sodium borates (37). Both schemes eliminate the lime loop of the conventional kraft mill. As of 1996, neither is commercially used. [Pg.270]

Iminoboianes have been suggested as intermediates in the formation of compounds derived from the pyrolysis of azidoboranes (77). The intermediate is presumed to be a boryl-substituted nitrene, RR BN, which then rearranges to the amino iminoborane, neither of which has been isolated (78). Another approach to the synthesis of amino iminoboranes involves the dehydrohalogenation of mono- and bis(amino)halobotanes as shown in equation 21. Bulky alkah-metal amides, MNR, have been utilized successfully as the strong base,, in such a reaction scheme. Use of hthium-/i /f-butyl(ttimethylsilyl)amide yields an amine, DH, which is relatively volatile (76,79). [Pg.264]

The photolysis of 1,2-benzisoxazole in the absence of air in acetonitrile gave salicylonitrile and benzoxazole (67AHC(8)277). When air-saturated acetonitrile was employed, 2,2 -dimeriz-ation to (38) occurred, accompanied by benzoxazole. Photolysis of the 2,2 -dimer (38) and benzoxazole did not alter the ratio, thus indicating that neither one arose from the other. Selective excitation also ruled out dimer formation from benzoxazole under the reaction conditions (Scheme 9). This dimerization is similar to that observed for benzimidazole, except that in that series no 2,2 -dimerization was observed (74TL375). [Pg.16]

ISO 9000 is not a statutory requirement and neither is certification, hence certification is voluntary. However, suppliers may be under pressure to obtain registration to ISO 9001, ISO 9002, or ISO 9003 in order to tender for contracts. Within the ISO 9000 certification scheme, the certification industry is regulated by accreditation bodies. An International Accreditation Forum (lAF) attempts to harmonize accreditation practices world-wide through ISO Guide 61. The accreditation bodies authorize certification bodies to conduct certification to prescribed standards - a process that is called accreditation. The accreditation body performs witness audits and desk audits of the certification body to ensure compliance with the conditions of accreditation. [Pg.13]

Just as the rate equation gives the transition state composition but not its structure, neither does it tell us the order in which the components were assembled. Thus, Schemes VII and VIII both give the same rate equation, v = A iA jCaCb CoCp, so this equation correctly identifies the rds transition state composition, but it cannot distinguish between these reaction schemes (or others that can be drawn). [Pg.218]

Now suppose that only the monoanionic form of the dibasic acid H2S undergoes reaction and that neither the hydronium nor the hydroxide ion is directly involved. The kinetic scheme is, therefore. [Pg.287]

Several other reaction types have also appeared in the literature but are sometimes purely formal schemes dating from the time when the solvent was (incorrectly) thought to undergo self-ionic dissociation into SO + and S03 or SO " and S205 . More recently it has been shown that, whereas neither SO2 nor OSMe2 (dmso) react with first-row transition metals, the mixed solvent smoothly effects... [Pg.701]

This behavior has been verified with bithiazole derivative 94 (Scheme 36). Neither acetophenone nor benzophenone sensitized the reaction, in agreement with an ICI mechanism via the excited singlet state (86TL6385 87JA938). [Pg.72]

The third synthetic scheme is employed when the phenylthio substituent is in the a-position of the lactone function, which interferes with the cyclization (90JOC5894). Acetylenic ketone 194 (95% yield) is readily transformed to the acetal 195 (with potassium carbonate in methanol) however, under the above conditions neither its hydrolysis nor cyclization to the spiroketal occurs. The spirocyclic pyrone 197 is formed in quantitative yield on treatment of 195 with p-toluenesulfonic acid in a 4 1 THF-H2O mixture at reflux for 12 h. [Pg.207]

When the furanones 110 (R = Ph, p-MeOC6H4, p-Cl—C6H4) were subjected to reduction using sodium borohydride, neither the glycols 111 nor the allyl alcohols 112 were formed. Instead, the corresponding 4-(arylmethylene)-2,3-(4//,5// )-furandiones 113 were obtained (Scheme 34) (86JHC199). [Pg.128]
