The antimicrobial spectra of penicillin G (benzylpeni-cillin) and penicillin V (the phenoxymethyl derivative) are very similar for aerobic Gram-positive microorganisms. However, penicillin G is 5 to 10 times more active against Neisseria spp. that are sensitive to penicillins, and against certain anaerobes. [Pg.555]

Saez-Nieto, J. A., and Vazquez, J. A. (1999). In vitro activities of ketolide HMR 3647 and HMR 3004, Levofloxacin, and other quinolones and macrolides against Neisseria spp. and Moraxella catarrhalis. Antimicrob. Agents Chemother. 43, 983-984. [Pg.174]

The drug has exeellent potency against a majority of the members of the Enterobacteriaceae family, H. influenzae, Neisseria spp., andM catarrhalis. It is found to be not active against S. aureus or P. aeruginosa and exhibits mild streptococcal activity. It is invariably indicated in the management and control of community-acquired respiratory tract, minary tract and above all the gynecological infections. [Pg.762]

Polyunsaturated fatty acids from com oil, especially arachidonic acid (C20 4) has been proven to be effective in killing Gram-negative bacteria. Neisseria spp. and Haemophilus spp. Contrary, Escherichia coli strains showed no sensitivity during 6 hours of incubation with arachidonic acid (C20 4) (Knapp and Melly, 1986). [Pg.165]
