Negative indicators

Note that the resulting figure will very often be negative (indicating that the total amount of waste generated has been reduced in the current year). Be sure to check-off the appropriate sign for the value where indicated on Form R. [Pg.51]

Acnegenic Response. Both 2,3,7,8-TCDD and HCDD produced chloracne in the rabbit ear bioassay as indicated by the formation of comedones. Solutions of 2,3,7,8-TCDD (sample c) in benzene ranging in concentration from 0.04 /xg/ml to 400 ju,g/ml produced a positive response with severity increasing with concentration. A negative response was obtained with a solution of 0.004 ju,g/ml. In contrast, a chloroform solution of 1,2,3,4-TCDD, 50 jug/ml, did not produce a positive response. With HCDD (samples a, b, c, and d), a response was produced by solutions of 10 to 50 ju,g/ml in chloroform and dimethoxyethane. Chloroform extracts from 10% suspensions of 2,7-DCDD or OCDD were negative, indicating that these have a low order or possibly no acnegenic activity. [Pg.60]

The energy change is negative, indicating that this helium nuclide is more stable than its separate component particles. We expect this for any stable nuclide. [Pg.1558]

Fig. 14 are the simulated distributions including the different parent rotational levels. An interesting observation from these distributions is that the shape of the multiplet peak corresponding to each 011 (/I) rotational level for the perpendicular polarization is not necessarily the same as that for the parallel polarization see for example the peak labelled v = 0, N = 22. From the simulations, relative populations are determined for the OH (A) product in the low translational energy region from H2O in different rotational levels for both polarizations. The anisotropy parameters for the OH product from different parent rotational levels are determined. Experimental results indicate that the ft parameters for the 011 (/I) product from the three parent H2O levels Ooo, loi, I11, are quite different from each other. Most notably, for the 011 (/I, v 0, N = 22) product the ft parameter from the foi H2O level is positive while the ft parameters from the Ooo and In levels are negative, indicating that the parent molecule rotation has a remarkable effect on the product anisotropy distributions of the OH(A) product. The state-to-state cross-sections have also been determined, which also are different for dissociation from different rotational levels of H2O. [Pg.113]

The equipment requirements that we have determined are well within the realm of technical feasibility and practicality. The heat transfer requirements are easily attained in equipment of this size. The fact that some of the heat transfer requirements are positive and others negative indicates that one should probably consider the possibility of at least partial heat exchange between incoming cold feed and the effluent from the second or third reactors. The heat transfer calculations show that the sensible heat necessary to raise the cold feed to a temperature where the reaction rate is appreciable represents a substantial fraction of the energy released by reaction. These calculations also indicate that it would be advisable to investigate... [Pg.359]

The basic assumption is made in these calculations that the benzyl or phenyl radicals formed are removed in the hot zone only by recombination with methyl radicals. When dimethyl zinc is used, the apparent energy of activation for reaction (11) is negative indicating a loss of phenyl radicals in the hot zone by an additional process. The only species present which is absent when the mercury and cadmium alkyls are used is ZnCH3. The additional process by which phenyl radicals are lost is therefore probably... [Pg.211]

The fact that the overall tone of the passage is quite negative indicates the writer s purpose. [Pg.154]

The majority of micronuclei formed in this study were kinetochore negative, indicating a predominantly clastogenic effect of deoxycholic acid in these cells. Clastogenicity has previously been reported for organic fractions from human faeces and for ursodeoxycholic acid, utilising Chinese hamster ovary cells and human lymphocytes. [Pg.79]

Cholesteric lyotropic mesophases of cellulose in LiCl-DMAC solutions at 1(>-15% (w/w) concentration have been observed by Ciferri and coworkers (19.59.61.62) and McCormick et al. (63). LiCl/DMAC ratios between 3/97 and 11/89 (w/w) were used. LiCl-DMAC does not degrade cellulose and does not react with the polymer (59). It does form a complex with the OH CToups on cellulose which is believed to result in dissolution (62). Optical rotary dispersions are negative, indicating the superhelicoidal structure has a left-handed twist. [Pg.264]

As can be seen, generally all electron affinities predicted by ASCF are negative, indicating a more stable neutral system with respect to the anion. The inclusion of correlation via CCSD(T) and NOF approximates them to the available adiabatic experimental EAs, accordingly with the expected trend. The EAs tend to increase in moving from ACCSD(T) to ANOF and then from ANOF to the experiment. It should be noted that the NH anion is predicted to be unbound by CCSD(T), whereas the positive vertical EA value via NOE corresponds to the bound anionic state. [Pg.421]

For the covalent bonds in the diatomic molecules studied by Bader and Essen (1984), values of ky and k2 vary from —25 to —45 eA-s, while /3 is positive in the range of 0-45 eA-5. The sum of the curvatures, V2p, is invariably negative, indicating the concentration of electron density in the internuclear region. But for second-row atoms, the larger positive value of A3 may dominate the Laplacian. [Pg.137]

Notice that dashed lines associate a number with a circuit element. Note that the power numbers displayed for resistors are all positive. This means that those elements are absorbing that amount of power. The number displayed for the voltage source is negative, indicating that the element is sourcing power to the circuit. [Pg.168]

The AH values for these two reactions are negative, indicating that these reactions are exothermic. In both of these reactions, the products are formed from their basic elements so the AHs represent heats of formation. The third reaction is the familiar reaction for photosynthesis. The energy needed for this endothermic reaction is supplied by the sun. [Pg.122]

It is interesting to note that in some cases, the olefinic strain is negative indicating that some strain terms are lost on going from the alkane to the alkene. With cyclooctene, for example, some of the torsional interactions and H- H nonbonded... [Pg.723]
