Near-edge region

In addition to the EXAFS region, Fig. 6 shows that there are also three other regions the pre-edge, edge, and near-edge regions.

In Figure 1, the development of the normalized near-edge region of the Pt L3 edge during heating is shown. A sharp decrease in the whiteline intensity between 150 and 200°C is observed. 

Figure 5a displays spectra in the X-ray absorption near edge region given by sPEEK-ZrP samples after immersion in H3PO4 for periods of 10 min-... 

As observed, there is a marked dependence of the spectral features In the near-edge region on polarization. The carbon spectrum is predominately characteristic of the hydrocarbon chains in the multilayer since they contain the majority of carbon atoms. Thus, the strong polarization dependence of the spectrum suggests that the chains are highly ordered. The sharp peak observed at approximately 290 eV, corresponds to excitation to an empty orbital associated with the C-H bonds on the chain. This orbital is perpendicular to the chain direction, and its associated feature is most pronounced with...
