Krug, E. G. Firearm-Related Deaths in the United States and 35 Other High- and Upper-Middle-Income Countries.The Journal of the American Medical Association, vol. 280, August 5, 1998, p. 401. Reports that the 49th World Health Assembly has declared violence a worldwide public health problem. Using data provided by health officials, a study concludes that firearms death rates are much higher in the United States and that types of death (murder or suicide) as well as rates vary with national income. 

To address these concerns, the following organizations experimented independently and also cooperatively The National Association for Safety with Gun Powder, the Japanese Merchants Association for Firearms and Gun Powder, the Yoshida Laboratory at the University of Tokyo, the Kobayashi Laboratory at Chuo University, and the Shirakawa Manufacturer at the Nippon Machinery Company. 

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry, responded that they rejected NFS s categorization of traditional ammunition as a health threat NSSF noted that no scientific evidence supports restricting ammunition containing lead components and that banning such traditional bullets was arbitrary and a drastic policy decision unsupported by science. ...
