N-Methyldiethanolamine

Bis(2-chloroethyl)methylamine hydrochloride. N-methyldiethanolamine (59.58 g, 0.5 mole) is dissolved in 50 mL of chloroform and added dropwise with stirring to a solution of freshly distilled thionyl chloride (158.17 g, 1.33 mole) in 70 mL of chloroform. After the addition is complete, the solution is refluxed for 3 h and then left to stir overnight at room temperature. The solvent and the excess thionyl chloride are removed by rotary evaporation to yield an off-white solid. This product is recrystallized from acetone and... [Pg.99]

Lemire et al. (32) reported a quantitative method for the determination of IV-ethyl- and A-methyldi-ethanolamine, the hydrolysis products of HN-1 and HN-2, in urine using LC/ESI/MS/MS on a triple sector quadrupole instrument. The analytes were concentrated from urine by SPE on a strong cation exchanger. In order to obtain good peak shapes, 73% 3mM ammonium hydroxide (pH 10.5) - 27 % methanol was used as the mobile phase for LC. Isotope dilution ([13C]4-/V-Me and N-Et diethanolamines) was used to compensate for inherent variabilities. Detection was by MRM, monitoring the transition MH+ —> [MH-H20]+ for each analyte. The limits of detection were 0.4 ng/ml for V-ethyldiethanolaminc and 1 ng/ml for N-methyldiethanolamine. An interferent was present in urine with similar retention time and nominal mass characteristics as /V-mclhyldiclhanolaminc. [Pg.416]

As an indication of the benefits to surface cure by adding amine modified synergists, the figure below compares the reactivity of a standard formulation. The comparison shows the difference between no amine, liquid amine (n-methyldiethanolamine) and two types of synergist ("Syn" 1 and 2) which have amine values of 150 and 200mgKOH/g. [Pg.196]

The water used in this study was double distilled and the amines (N-methyldiethanolamine, tri-n-butylamine, triethylamine, diethylamine, N-diethylmethylamine, dicyclohexylamine and N,N -dimethylaniline) were obtained from the Aldrich Chemical Company Limited, UK as was the monomer 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate. The monoacrylate water-soluble resin RCP-1784 was supplied by Lankro Chemicals Limited, Eccles, manchester, UK and used as received. [Pg.73]

Monoethanolamine (>99%), N-methyldiethanolamine (>99%), diethanolamine (>99%) and piperazine (=99%) were all purchased from Sigma Aldrich. Amines are used based on the given purity values by the supplier. CO2 (>99.5%) and N2 (>99%) were used to simulate the flue gas. [Pg.60]

When photoinitiators consisting of mixtures of benzophenone, or 4-benzoylbiphenyl, or isopropylthioxanthone vdth a tertiary amine are combined with an electron deficient anhydride, rapid photoinitiations of polymerizations of acrylate esters result. Thus, additions of less than 0.1 wt. percent 2,3-dimethylmaleic anhydride to 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate containing any of the above diaryUcetones and N-methyldiethanolamine result in an increase in the polymerization rate maximum by a factor of as much as three that is attained for the same reaction without the anhydride. Laser flash photolysis results show that benzophenone, 4-benzoylbiphenyl, and isopropylthioxanthone triplets are readily quenched by dimethylmaleic anhydride. [Pg.68]

Aqueous alkanolamine solutions are frequently used for removal of acidic gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from gas streams in the natural gas, synthetic, and refinery industries. Several options are available for removing acid gases, but by far the most popular is the absorption by amine based solvents such as monoethanolamine (MEA), diglycolamine (DGA), diethanolamine (DEA), di-isopropanolamine (DIPA), triethanolamine (TEA), N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), 2-amino-2-methyl-l-propanol (AMP), and 2-piperidineethanol (2-PE) in reversible absorption-regeneration processes [1]. [Pg.64]
