Direct matrix diagonalization. The time-honored way to compute a spectrum is worth a brief review. Assume that we begin with a real-valued orthonormal basis set with dimension N, j), j = 1, 2,. .., N, where each member could represent a multi-mode function. We assume that this basis is sufficient to represent both the initial state i /,) and the eigenstates ijja) that make a major contribution to the spectrum. The expansion coefficients of the initial state in this basis set,... [Pg.75]

These plants are designed with two independent high-pressure injection systems, namely reactor cooling sure coolant injection (HPCl). The associated pumps are each potiered fay turbine. also have a multi-loop core spray system and a multi-mode residual heat re sy.stem that can be aligned for low-pressure coolant injection, shutdown cooling, suppre.ssion pc containment spray functions. [Pg.393]

Fig. 2 shows the temperature as a function of irradiation time of Cu based material under microwave irradiation. CuO reached 792 K, whereas La2Cu04, CuTa20e and Cu-MOR gave only 325, 299 and 312 K, respectively. The performances of the perovskite type oxides were not very significant compared to the expectation from the paper reported by Will et al. [5]. This is probably because we used a single mode microwave oven whereas Will et al. employed multi-mode one. The multi-mode microwave oven is sometimes not very sensitive to sample s physical properties, such as electronic conductivity, crystal sizes. From the results by electric fixmace heating in Fig. 1, at least 400 K is necessary for NH3 removal. So, CuO was employed in the further experiments although other materials still reserve the possibility as active catalysts when we employ a multi-mode microwave oven. [Pg.311]

Larger Memory Capacity The memory capacity in typical consumer devices has always been increasing. For instance, to support multi-mode (e.g., AMPS+ TDMA), multi-band (e.g., 900 and 1800 MHz) communication and PDA functionalities, a 3G wireless handset would need 128 Mb flash memory and 128 Mb DRAM161. Figure 7.2 shows the trend of Flash memory capacity in cellular phones. A salient trend is that the memory demand has outpaced the memory capacity that can be provided by pure scaling171. [Pg.146]

An accelerating trend for today s cell phones is to support multi-mode, multi-standard, and multi-band operations, which require even more complex RF front-end circuits. Meanwhile, the communication-oriented cell phone standards are converging with wireless broadband access standards WiFi1 61 and WiMax (806.16d/e)1171. Wireless terminals are expected to be able to deliver computing, computation, and entertainment functionalities virtually anytime, anywhere. As a result, a large variety of heterogeneous functionalities could be found on the... [Pg.152]

Based on the above concept, the following multi-mode chemical transducer molecule was synthesized (Fig. 9), and its function was demonstrated. This molecule showed both electro-... [Pg.656]

The present conjugated function, characteristic of a multi-mode chemical transducer, may be applicable for dual-mode memory One is a "deep" memory mode (hydroquinone-type photochromism, hard to transform) and the other is a "shallow" memory mode (quinone-type photochromism, easy to transform). [Pg.657]

Multi-mode molecular switching properties and functions of azo-conju-gated terpyridine complexes of transition metals have been studied [47-49]. The dependences of the photoisomerization behavior on the metal center and its oxidation state were investigated using azobenzene-attached terpyridine complexes of four metals Fe, Co, Ru, and Rh. As for the Fe and Ru complexes, 60-62, photoisomerization is totally inhibited when UV light irradiation excites the n -n band of the azobenzene moiety in the trans form due to the occurrence of energy transfer from the azobenzene unit to the complex unit [50-53]. [Pg.96]

The greatest advantage of this new type of electrode is its ability to function as a stationary and a nonstationary mercury electrode, as well as the possibility of synchronizing the electrode (drop) formation with the programm-control arrangement. The reproducibility of the mercury metering of an SMDE is important for its dependability in operation. In a commercial model (Multi-Mode electrode, Metrohm AG, Switzerland), the mercury is pushed through the capillary by a ni-... [Pg.805]

Almost all, except the second one, distribution functions of the execution time of the test process shown in Figure 2, show that they are multi-mode. Only the second run of the test process is similar to one-mode distribution. The total interval of the operation time of the test process is between 0.094 s and 3.97 s. [Pg.654]
