The morphology of the CuCl precipitates were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The SEM microscopy was carried out with a beam energy of 15kV. [Pg.326]

X-ray diffraction patterns were recorded on a Philips PW1820 diffractometer with Cu-Ka radiation (X = 0.154 nm). The collected sample was indexed very well as cubic a-Mn203 bixbyite (JCPDS 41-1442, la-3, a = 0.941 nm) (Fig. 1). The morphologies were visualized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) (Fig. 1). The abundant well-defined hexagonal-like plates with the sizes from several hundred nanometers to a few micrometers were formed during hydrothermal treatment, which kept initial shape after 700 °C-calcination (Fig. 1). The hexagonal plates are about 50 nm thick with smooth surfaces. [Pg.246]

The structure and phase purity of the synthesized materials were determined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). [Pg.316]

Tg (-22 °C) of a homogeneous 70/30 PNIPAM-water mixture. Observation of samples by scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy revealed that the morphology of the polymer-rich phase is preserved only if the polymer solutions are brought to zone C. Polymer solutions heated to zone B undergo demixing upon quench-cooling [160]. Aqueous solutions of PVCL, PNIPMAM, and PNIPMA exhibit similar behaviour [157,158,369,370]. [Pg.85]

Limited evidence from microsurgical ablation experiments suggests that semio-chemicals are perceived by the external scapular setae (Leal el al., 1989f). The morphology of the setae has been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (Leal and Mochizuki, 1990). [Pg.89]

Ideally, rubber toughening should be accomplished without substantial sacrifices in modulus. For each modified resin, flexural and Young moduli and plane-strain fracture toughness were determined. Examination of various fracture surfaces by scanning electron microscopy showed the effects of modifier composition on the morphology of these multi-phase materials as well as the prominent features of the fracture process. [Pg.82]

The chemical compositions were determined by atomic absorption. The crystallinity of the samples was checked by XRD technique. Size and morphology of the crystals were examined by scanning electron microscopy. [Pg.582]

We have studied the effect of heating on the color, on the dry and wet tensile properties, on the abrasion characteristics, and on the dyeing and resultant color properties of the linen. We also examined the effect of heat treatment on the crystallinity of flax by wide angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) and on the surface morphology of flax fibers by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). [Pg.160]
