The different levels of oxygen access in the different water zones may, in extensive structures, for example sheet pilings or mooring posts, lead to the formation of aeration elements. Measurements have shown that the cathodic areas are usually on or just above the waterline [53]. The result is then increased corrosion in the tidal zone, which may be much larger than would be expected based on the different rusting rates in samples exposed separately in the tidal and immersion zones. 

We have found that combined solid-state NMR spectroscopy and DPC results can be used to calculate reaction enthalpies which are in close agreement with Moore (15). Furthermore, we find that the degree of conversion can be significantly affected by post reaction thermal processing. We conclude that the single pulse solid-state NMR spectroscopy can provide reliable, reproducible, and quantitative information about these highly crosslinked, insoluble, polymer networks. 

Courtship trials were performed in outdoor areas measuring 1 x 1 x 1 m and constructed of nylon fabric attached to metal posts (Moore, LeMaster and Mason 2000). Groups of ten actively courting male snakes were placed in an arena and allowed to acclimate. A female (n = 10) or newly-emerged male (n = 10) was then placed into each arena and the snakes were allowed to interact undisturbed for three minutes. The number of males actively courting the experimental animal at the end of the three-minute period was then recorded. Unique experimental animals and actively courting males were used for each trial.

The wide range of 8180 values for post-Mississippian Zone 5 cements reflects, in part, precipitation of these cements at elevated temperatures.
