Monolithic columns construction

Fig. 2 Construction of a large volume methacrylate monolithic unit of desired thickness. The monolithic unit (4) consists of three monolithic cylinders (1, 2, and 3). The total thickness of the unit (4) is the sum of the thicknesses of monoliths 1, 2, and 3. Source From Construction of large-volume monolithic columns, in Anal. Chem. ... Figure 5.2 Jq/N - N type kinetic plots of 2.6 p,m shell type (Kinetex), 2.7 p,m shell type (Ascentis Express), sub-2 p,m totally porous particles (Acquity BEH and Hypersil Gold), and a monolith column (ChromoUth Fast Gradient). These plots were constructed based on the H-u data of Figure 5.1. From Olah, E., et al., /. Chmmatogr. A. 2010, with permission. Another approach is increasing throughput via a monolith analytical column. Vintiloiu et al. (2005) used a self-made RAM online SPE under turbulent flow conditions to measure rofecoxib, a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, in rat plasma. They constructed a cartridge (0.76 x 50 mm) packed with LiChrosphere 60 RP-18 ADS particles (40 to 63 /an, Merck KgaA). The analytical column was a Chromolith Speed ROD (RP-18, 50 x 4.6 mm, Merck KgaA). The injection volume was... [Pg.291]

To increase the surface area of the stationary phase for CEC separation, a collocated monolithic support structure (COMOSS) was constructed in a Si chip. A polystyrene-sulfonic acid stationary phase was then immobilized [349]. Design of the COMOSS required that the combined cross sectional area at the column head to be the same at any point in the inlet distributor [644]. A study for the reduction of band broadening in COMOSS was also reported [645]. [Pg.164]

Flat-slab Floors. A flat-slab floor is a reinforced-concrete slab built monolithically and using a top-spread column support without the aid of beams and girders. In Fig. 8-16 the second and third floors are flat-slab construction. It is ideal for industrial buildings with live loads of 100 psf and square panel spans of IS to 30 ft, but the flooring must be... [Pg.320]

Despite the limitation of the monolith thickness related to the preparation problems, cylindrically shaped monoliths of desired thickness can be easily constructed, by polymerizing several cylinders of appropriate dimensions and inserting one into another, the so-called tube-in-tube approach, as shown in Fig. 2. Furthermore, each of the cylinders can have a different chemistry therefore, a multidimensional chromatographic column, named the conjoint liquid chromatography... [Pg.1534]
