Propylene copolymerization is a remarkable case. Copolymers with molecular weights as high as 800000 are readily obtained. The copolymerization tends toward a product containing two molecules of thiocarbonyl fluoride for each propylene molecule. Compositions with higher thiocarbonyl content can be obtained by use of less propylene in the starting monomer mixture. Products containing approximately 2 1 thiocarbonyl fluoride/propylene ratios are soft, pliable elastomers that retain flexibility to — 55° C. [Pg.100]

Depending on conditions, frozen substances in comet nuclei can be crystalline ices, amorphous ices, and clathrate hydrates (compounds in which cages in the water-ice lattice can host guest molecules). Compositions of the ices and associated organic materials in comets have been determined from both telescopic and spacecraft observations. Spectral line measurements of gases in a comet s coma allow the identification of molecules and radicals. An inherent difficulty in spectral measurements is that volatiles in the coma are commonly broken... [Pg.418]

In order to calculate the weight-composition distribution one should substitute in expression (4.4) f(l) for the weight Flory distribution and then integrate the modified expression over all 1 employing formula (4.5) for W(11Q. In this case, as demonstrated by the authors of Ref. [54], it is very convenient to use instead of Cs the natural variables Z = (Ci — nt) (1/2 D )1/2, characterizing the deviation of the individual molecule composition C from its overall value S. In terms of such variables, the function of the composition distribution is the following ... [Pg.19]

Most of the azo dyes destruct because of the low resistance of azo-groups to reducing medium of polymer melt. Azo-dyes metallo-complexes with the composition (1 2), not having free sulfo - and carboxyl groups in the molecule composition are the exception. [Pg.14]

Determine the total number of valence electrons for the molecule/composite ion. This is done by summing up the number of valence electrons for the individual atoms (plus the eventual extra ionic charge if we are dealing with a composite ion). Thus the number of dots of the individual atoms has to be counted. [Pg.59]

Many researches have synthesized calcium phosphate / organic molecule composites in general, as experimental evaluation on organic-inorganic interfaces is so difficult and complicated, the detailed interfacial interactions have not been elucidated yet. In this study, we adopted a HAp / poly-L-lactide (PLLA) composite and a HAp / glycine composite as model materials to elucidate the interfacial chemical interactions using ab initio calculation method, i.e. discrete variational (DV)-Xo method. [Pg.531]

Due to the easy processing, thin films of solution processable polymer-small molecule composites are more appealing for the realization of integrated circuits on large area by printing techniques. As for the coevaporated systems, the composition and microstructure of the film will affect the performances of the devices. For the polymer-small molecule blends, these characteristics can be tuned by the choice of solvents and spin coating parameters [52], until the optimal conditions are reached for balanced bipolar transport. [Pg.476]

Intensive research has been devoted to the field of bulk heterojnnction solar cells during the last decade. As a result, many different materials were found to be suitable for construction of bulk heterojnnction solar cells. Among them are examples of polymer/polymer, polymer/small molecule, polymer/carbon nanotube, polymer/inorganic nanoparticle, as well as small molecule/small molecule composites. ... [Pg.2075]

Small third-molecule components would be preferentially adsorbed in the interphase. The presence of small molecules dilutes the polymers, tending to weaken the interphase mechanically. (If water and/or oxygen were making up some or aU of the small molecule composition, clearly polymer degradation might be an increased problem as well.)... [Pg.645]

In general C-dmg dispersions are prepared starting from an aqueous dispersion of C, at concentrations of 0.1, 0.2, 0.25 or 0.5 % w/v that is neutralized with an appropriate proportion of the organic molecule. Compositions are identified as C-drugx, where the subscript x is the proportion of drug expressed in mol % which neutralizes the carboxylic groups of C [11—13]. [Pg.232]

According to the classification of the molecule composition, the polymer matrix used includes ... [Pg.476]
