Water samples, received from the respective groundwater trials, are analyzed by direct aqueous injection (DAI) by LC/ESI-MS/MS. A 1-mL volume of the water is pipetted into a 1.8-mL autosampler vial. The internal standard solution is added (200 qL) and mixed. The vials are capped and analyzed by LC/ESI-MS/MS using the selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode.

In actual practice, it is common to keep the transformation factors constant throughout the analysts. Engineering judgment is used to select the appropriate factors, depending on the predominant response mode anticipated. A trial and error approach may be used to evaluate the response mode behavior. An average of the clastic and plastic transformation factors is sometimes used. 

It has to be stressed that the selection of the most adequate scaling mode (or not to scale at all) has to be done on a trial-and-error basis. 

In reality, these functions are more complex and the operator has to use the trial and error mode. Practical criteria which improve the likelihood of correct selection of the parameters of the ARIMA model are the autocorrelation and the partial autocorrelation function of the errors of the resulting ARIMA fit. If they do not have significant spikes the model is satisfactory.

The proper stationary phase and the possible individual solvents are chosen, and their combination is. selected by means of the PRISMA model, while this combination is adapted to the selected technique (e.g.. FF-TLC. saturated immersion mode, etc.).
