Mixer with drum

A general recommendation with vertical mixers is that about 15 min mixing time is adequate after the last ingredient has been added to the mixer. With horizontal and drum mixers the mixing time is shorter, about 5-10 min after addition of the last ingredient.

The general characteristics of dispersions from different sources static mixers, flash drums 100-100 pm solvent extraction units, mechanically agitated systems 20-300 pm high Ap across a valve, steam stripper bottoms, caustic wash drums 10-400 pm systems with interfacial tension < 10 mN/m or containing surfactant systems or secondary coalescence 0.1-25 pm. 

All mixes were prepared in a drum mixer with a capacity of 0.15 m. Mixing sequence was as follows ...

Other variations of the rotary drum mixer-agglomerator, fitted with either lifting blades or independent paddle shafts, are also used in feed preparation for sintering operations (see Section 2, Chapter 4).
