Mix design for slurry surfacing

Mix design procedure for slurry surfacing is provided by ASTM D 3910 (2011) for slurry seal and ASTM D 6372 (2010) for micro-surfacing. 

However, they specify performance-related technical requirements based on visual assessment of defects, which will be covered in subsequent sections. The determination of the target mix is left to the producer/manufacturer. 

Nevertheless, the draft EN (CEN prEN 16333 2014) related to slurry surfacing specifications for airfields suggests a mix design procedure, very similar to ASTM D 6372 (2010). 

For slurry seal, when the pavement surface is in relative good condition and surface texture does not change significantly, according to ISSAAIOS (2010).
