During investigation of the major betaxanthin pigments, a number of compounds have been isolated for which no structure could be established because of the paucicity of material. Examples are miraxanthin IV and miraxanthin VI from Mirabilis jalapa (30) and some pigment fractions from Amanita muscaria (77). 

Miraxanthins. A group of betaxanthins (see betalains) occurring in the flowers of marvel-of-Peru (Mirabilis jalapa. Nyctaginaceae). M. I (C14H N207S, Mr 358.37) is a condensation product of betalamic acid with methionine sulfoxide, M. // (C 3H,4N20g, Mr 326.26) with aspartate, M. Ill (C,7H gN205, Mr 330.34) with tyramine. 

Miraxanthins yellow Betaxanthins (see) found in Mirabilis jalapa, and consisting of conjugates of beta-lamic add.
