The "rational MIP design" involves better insights to the molecular imprinting process. An in-depth understanding of the molecular level events occurring in the MIPs is modeled mathematically. The earliest attempts to describe aspects of the molecular imprinting involved physical or mathematical formalism based on thermodynamic models [Pande et al., 1997 Sergeyeva et al., 1999 Nicholls et al., 1995]. [Pg.622]

The reports of MIP-design protocols utilizing quantum chemical methods, i.e., semi-empirical, ah initio and DFT are becoming increasingly common in the design and evaluation of MIPs, in particular for studies of the MIP prepolymerization stage [Nicholls et al., 2009]. [Pg.626]

Fugii et al. [26] reported one of the earliest examples of selective recognition using metal coordinated molecular imprinting. They utilized a polymerizable cobalt (III) Schiff base complex as the recognition element in an MIP designed for the selective... [Pg.154]

As stated, perhaps most often the molecular recognition of the target species constitutes the starting point in MIP design and preparation. Thus, the functionality matching between the target and possible Functional Elements (FEs) are of particular... [Pg.182]

Other simulation experiments performed in our laboratory include design of MIP adsorbents for solid-phase extraction of atrazine [77], DDT, lindane, aflatoxin Bl, ochratoxin A, and tylosin (unpublished data) and the development of assay/ sensor recognition elements for biotin (unpublished data) and creatinine [78]. In all these cases, molecular modeling proved to be a useful tool for MIP design. It would... [Pg.388]

Structure was observed and a 55-fold rate enhancement was attained with the MIP. In addition, in keeping with the MIP design, the reaction rate was shown to be affected by snbstrate chirality and also by competitive binding and inhibition by dibenzoyhnethane. [Pg.3111]
