Mineral sizer

The rotary pick mineral sizer has been used as a secondary crusher for soft to moderately hard limestone. The construction is similar to that of the rolls crusher, but the rotors are fitted with alloy steel teeth, which break the rock by a combination of compression, tension and shear. [Pg.43]

Making paper without pollution requires that each part of the process be nonpolluting. The chemicals most commonly used in the production of pulp are NaOH and Na2 S. In modem paper mills, sulfur-containing by-products are scmbbed from the plant exhaust, and the aqueous sodium hydroxide is reclaimed and recycled. The fillers used to make paper opaque—titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, and kaolin (a clay)—are natural, nonpolluting minerals. The polymer binders and sizers are relatively easy to recapture from the aqueous waste stream. [Pg.251]

A small container of mineral spirits mounted above the sizing sleeve of a vacuum cooling tank so as to permit a slow, dropwise addition of mineral spirits on the hot vinyl profile just before entering the vacuum sizer will often keep sizing sleeves clean. [Pg.508]
