Software Availability. The SIMCA software is available in two forms, both developed by Wold (25) 1) an interactive, Fortran version which runs on Control Data Corporation (CDC) machines. The second set of programs are an interactive microcomputer version, SIMCA-3B, are available from Principal Data Components, 2505 Shepard Blvd., Columbia, MO 65201. The SIMCA-3B pattern recognition programs includes the CPLS-2 program used for PLS analysis and are available for CP/M (Digital Research, Pacific Grove, CA) and MS-DOS (Microsoft Corporation, Bellueve, WA) for 8088 or 80 86 based microcomputers.

Probably the commonest way to collect data and perform simple manipulations is within a Microsoft XL spread-sheet. Consequently, the most obvious way to carry out statistical analyses of such data would seem to lie within XL itself. Let me give you my first piece of advice. Do not even consider it The data analysis procedures within XL are rubbish - a very poor selection of procedures, badly implemented (apart from that, they are OK). If anybody in the Microsoft Corporation had a clue, they could have cleaned up in this area years ago. The opposition is pretty feeble and a decent statistical analysis package built into XL would have been unstoppable.

For dosimetry calculations, the concentrations of total radioactivity in rat tissues from a tissue distribution study are used as the basis for calculating the estimated radiation exposure in humans following a 100-p,Ci oral dose of [ C]-test article. Pharmacokinetic parameters generated by WinNonLin are transferred into Excel Version 8.0e (Microsoft Corporation) for calculation of human dosimetry parameters. 

Control is most successfully exerted by means of a control chart known as a Gantt chart, for whose drafting and maintenance a variety of labor-saving tools are now available. Two well-known and easy-to-use examples of project management software packages are Microsoft Project (Microsoft Corporation) and Schedule Publisher (AMS Software Inc.)...
