Microarray Gene Expression Data (MGED) Society (http //www.mged.org)... 

To assist investigators in meeting the requirements of the standard, the MGED Society provides a MIAME-checklist. The checklist outlines the most pertinent points of the standard to facilitate data submission compliance (www.mged.org/Workgroups/MIAME/miame.html). The MIAME standard includes a glossary of the controlled vocabulary used throughout the MIAME document to assist data for submission. 

Institute (http //www.ebi.ac.uk/arrayexpress), the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) of the National Institute of Health (GEO, http //ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/geo/), and the Center for Information Biology Experimentation Databases (CIBEX, http //cibex.nig.ac.jp/index.jsp) in Japan. These databases have adopted the standards proposed by the MGED Society and implement the Gene Ontology vocabulary.

The use of a common reference RNA allows for the comparison of data between various array experiments. Typically a pool of RNA derived from a variety of tissues is used as a reference sample. Efforts are being made to implement common standards (MIAME, minimal information about a microarray experiment) for transcript profiling through the MGED Society to enable data sharing between different groups [50]. 

The MIAME standard was created by the Functional Genomics Data Society, formerly known as the Microarray Gene Expression Data Society (http // www.mged.org), as an effort to provide standards to specify all the information necessary to describe and interpret unambiguously the results of a microarray experiment (74). The standard defines the contents required for compliance reports but it does not specify the format in which this data should be presented. As a consequence there are a number of different file formats for representing this data, and each public and subscription database has adopted its own format.
