Going through the above evaluation criteria in a systematic manner, the first question will be Why should medium-temperature pressure gasification be used for the production of methanol syngas from lignite  

Here are a few arguments that speak in favour of doing so  

The raw gas from coal can best be cleaned up by the Rectisol Process for the following reasons  

The liquid products such as tar, oil, naphtha and phenols, which are obtained as the raw gas from coal is cooled, are converted by partial oxidation (Sect 2.4) into high-CO and high-H2 gas. This route was chosen for the following reasons
