The correlation between the polymerization rate of metal diacrylates and the metal s electronegativity has been determined experimentally. Electron density on the double bond and the polymerization rate decrease as the metal electronegativity increases. The limited polymerization of Cu(II) and Fe(III) acrylates is a consequence of intermolecular termination of the chain (Eq. 4-20).

Because this definition is not dependent on an arbitrary relative seale, it has also been termed absolute electronegativity, with the units of kilojoules per mole or electron volts. If an element has low values of both El and EA, as is the ease of most metals, electronegativity is also low. 

Their activity with respect to esterification and alcoholysis has been compared by Habib and Malek [105,106] and Chung [107], who found volcano-shaped relationships with different optima of activity of the several metals in terms of metal electronegativity according to Tanaka [108] for the glycolysis of dimethyl terephthalate... 

Important for spectroscopic analysis of cyclopentadienyl derivatives is the fact that the frequencies of the characteristic bands are virtually constant, when for one particular metal electronegative ligands or the oxidation states are altered.
