Books have been published on cyclic polyolefin complexes and metal vapour synthesis, while a review on metal vapour cryochemistry also contains information relevant to the latter. Reviews have also been published on organometallic derivatives of alkenes and ketenes, cationic Rh diolefin complexes, and nucleophilic addition to cationic hydrocarbon complexes. More personalized reviews have appeared by Maitlis on Pd -acetylene chemistry, by Jonas and Kruger on alkali-metal-transition-metal w-complexes, and by Werner on bridged allyl and cyclopentadienyl complexes. Articles by Wilke on homogeneous catalysis, by Vollhardt on metal-mediated approaches to steroid synthesis, by Schrock > on organotantalum chemistry, and by Grubbs on nickel metallocycles also contain material of relevance to r-complexes. 

Complexes of the sulfenamido anion [RSNR ] with several transition metals [Zr(IV), Ti(IV), Mo(VI), W(Vf), Ni(If), and U(IV)] are known.They are prepared by the reaction of the lithium derivative of the sulfenamido anion with a metal halide complex. Several stable Group 6 metal-ketene complexes are known [14], and photo-driven insertion of CO into a tungsten-carbyne-carbon triple bond has been demonstrated [15]. In addition, thermal decomposition of the nonheteroatom-stabilized carbene complexes (CO)5M=CPh2 (M=Cr, W) produces diphenylke-tene [16]. Thus, the intermediacy of transient metal-ketene complexes in the photodriven reactions of Group 6 Fischer carbenes seems at least possible. 

Carboxylic esters undergo the conversion C=0— C=CHR (R = primary or secondary alkyl) when treated with RCHBr2, Zn, and TiCl4 in the presence of A,A,A, iV -tetramethylethylenediamine. Metal carbene complexes R2C=ML (L = ligand), where M is a transition metal such as Zr, W, or Ta, have also been used to convert the C=0 of carboxylic esters and lactones to CR2. It is likely that the complex Cp2Ti=CH2 is an intermediate in the reaction with Tebbe s reagent. 

The analogous reactions of Zn and Cd derivatives arc less well studied. Zinc alkyls ZnRi (R = Et, n-Bu) react with transition-metal hydride complexes, H2M(Cp-(M = Mo, W) ... 

In 1987 Tapper et al. reported the first stable Mo and W complexed phosphinidenes 52 with two Cp ligands on the transition metal from the reaction of Mes PCl with Cp2M(H)Li [91]. Niecke et al. approached the syntheses of similar compounds with instead a NHMes substituent using Mes NPCl and Cp2M(H)Li...
