High built organic coatings - where zinc or other sacrificial metals cannot resist eertain types of corrosion attack and as a sealer for anodic metals containing coatings in places where such metals are easily corroded. 

Two basic methods are used for the appHcation of protective coatings to metal containers, ie, roUer coating and spraying. RoUer coating is used if physical contact is possible, eg, coating of metal in sheet and coil form. Spraying techniques are used if physical contact is not possible, eg, to coat the inside surface of two-piece drawn and ironed can bodies (see Coating processes). 

Canister anodes consist of a spirally wound galvanised steel outer casing containing a carbonaceous based extender which surrounds the primary anode element which may be graphite, silicon iron, magnetite, platinised titanium, mixed metal oxide-coated titanium or platinised niobium, etc.

There are, of course, metal-containing dendrimers that belong to more than one of the above-mentioned categories. Examples are the heptametallic dendrimer made of a central Fe(Cp)(C6Me6)+ core and coated with 6 ferrocene moieties [ 12], and the heterometallic dendrimers made of an organic core, containing up to 6 Pt(IV)-based organometallic species in the branches, and coated with up to 12 ferrocene units [13]. 

Many of uses of tin are also those of lead, because the metals form useful alloys. When lead is alloyed with a few percent of tin, it becomes harder and more durable. Although other compositions are produced, common solder consists of about an equal mixture of tin and lead. An alloy known as type metal contains about 82% Pb, 15% Sb, and 3% Sn, and pewter contains approximately 90% tin that is alloyed with copper and antimony. Babbitt, an alloy used in making bearings, contains 90% Sn, 7% Sb, and 3% Cu. Tin is also used to coat other metal objects to retard corrosion, and a tin-niobium alloy is used in superconducting magnets. 

The differences in reactions at different reactor positions was studied by Springmann et al. who reported product compositions for ATR of model compounds as a function of reactor length in a metal monolith coated with a proprietary noble metal containing Rh. As expected, the oxidation reactions take place at the reactor inlet, followed by the SR, shift, and methanation reactions. Figure 32 shows the product concentration profiles for a 1-hexene feed, which are typical results for all the fuels tested. These results show that steam, formed from the oxidation reactions, reaches a maximum shortly after the reactor inlet, after which it is consumed in the shift and reforming reactions. H2, CO and CO2 concentrations increase with reactor length and temperature. In this reactor, shift equilibrium is not reached, and the increase in CO with distance from the inlet is the net result of the shift and SR reactions. Methane is...
