Other synthetic work in this area includes a new synthesis of ( )-iV-benzoyl-meroquinene aldehyde (302), in eighteen steps, from ( )-norcamphor. The lack of stereospecificity in an intermediate reduction stage afforded also a synthesis of the diastereoisomer of (302).
