Melanocyte stimulating hormone MSH

Endorphin (143) is produced from pto-opiomelanocottin, a precursor for a-, P-, and y-melanocyte stimulating hormones (MSH), adtenocorticotropin (ACTH), which includes the a-MSH sequence, and P-Hpotropin (P-LPH), which includes P-MSH and P-endotphin sequences. 

The anterior lobe secretes various trophic hormones, the posterior lobe is responsible for the secretion of oxytocin and antidiuretic hormone (vasopressin) and middle lobe secretes melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) which may affect the synthesis of melanin.

Melanocyte-stimulating hormone. MSH, is produced in the intermediary lobe of the pituitary. Its function in mammals and humans is not clear. MSH binds to the melanocortin receptor. These receptors are G protein coupled and activate adenylylcyclase.
