Baffled by the results, the researchers called in a team of psychologists from Harvard University lead by Elton Mayo. Over the course of five years, hundreds of experiments involving thousands of employees were conducted. In these experiments, the researchers altered variables such as wage payment, rest periods, and length of the workday.
