The surface morphology of unmodified epoxy, PBMI-modified epoxy, siliconized epoxy and sificonized epoxy containing PBMI was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Epoxy resin was mixed with a fixed amount (10%) of DGTPDMS at 90°C for 15 min with constant stirring. Then a calculated amount (0, 5 and 10 wt%) of PBMI was dissolved in siliconized epoxy system at 125 C under vigorous stirring. After complete dissolution, a stoichiometric amount of DDM and DDS were added separately and the agitation was continued at 90°C until a homogenous mixture was obtained.
