Materials preblend

Phenol is supplied commercially either in the solid (crystalline) state or as a solution in water (water content 8-20%). Where supplied as a solid it is usually handled by heating the phenol, and the molten material is pumped into the resin kettles or into a preblending tank. If the solution is used care must be taken to avoid the phenol crystallising out. [Pg.638]

Heated two roll mills consist of two large metal cylinders mounted closely in parallel, which rotate toward one another, creating a narrow gap between the two rolls. A diagram of a two roll mill can be seen in Fig. 22.7. To heat the surfaces of the rolls, steam, hot water, or oil circulates through the rolls. Preblended material is dropped into the nip in small quantities. [Pg.352]

Pours requiring more than one container must be carefully preplanned. The material must all be weighed out into separate containers and heated to the correct temperature. The auxiliary materials must be added to the correct containers and preblended. In large pours, it is very important to add the... [Pg.86]

High-shear preblending of a drug substance with a portion of the excipient has resulted in improved processing for cohesive materials. " The use of a mix-screen-mix process, where the blend is passed through a mill, can also be used to break up cohesive agglomerates and disperse them more evenly throughout the powder bed. Optimization of the screen size... [Pg.3205]

Preblending of selected raw materials such as preblending a cohesive bulk solids with a less cohesive bulk solid to reduce the likelihood of flow problems during subsequent handling steps. [Pg.88]

Useful for blending friable materials Easy to clean Intensifler can be added Very efificient in producing uniform blends often used fw the manufacture of preblends and ordered mixes Good for blending cohesive powders as they break-up agglomerates... [Pg.168]

This involves the preblending and extrusion of pigments, fillers, additives with the moulding polymer. It is then a ready to use, prematched material. Pigments can include metallic materials (aluminium powder) and materials which provide opalescence. [Pg.210]

For the injection molding of foamable blends, either inert gas is introduced direcdy into the melt or the resin is preblended with a chemical blowing agent. The gas present or formed expands when the material is injected. [Pg.723]

These in edients are preblended with small quantities of pigments and lubricants, then fused ti ether on hot differential mixing rolls. The densi-fied material is removed from the rolls, cooled, and ground to the correct particle size and distribution. [Pg.950]

Finally, the mixing process has a pronounced effect on plasticizer distribution and thus on the properties of plasticized mateiials. " " Preblending or multistage processes were developed to increase the homogeneity of plasticized materials. Improved mixing affects not only physical distribution of the plasticizer but also facilitates its interaction with the matrix polymer. This can be seen from the improved retention of plasticizer after extraction with various solvents. ... [Pg.156]

The preblended batch material is continuously charged into the furnace where melting and fusion take place. The furnace is normally rectangular in shape with a longitudinal channel at the exit. The length-to-width ratio of the smelter depends on the daily tonnage required. Because of the corrosiveness of E-glass in molten... [Pg.264]
