Histological section (Masson trichrome) of nonresorbable 100% polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) fibers after 126 days in a subcutaneous rat model showing the extent and distribution of collagen matrix production around bundles of fibers. [Pg.789]

Representative sections (6 pm) of each organ were stained with Masson s trichrome and hematoxylin/eosin. [Pg.135]

FIGURE 20.4 This specimen from a brain abscess shows an infiam-matory iesion with a distinctive waii of coiiagen-stained cyan with Masson s trichrome stain. Brain around this waii (orange side) contains highiy reactive (gemistocytic) astrocytes. Toward the center of the abscess (gray side) are ieukocytes and swoiien macrophages. [Pg.826]

All colonic biopsies showed erosions with severe infiltration by inflammatory cells. Masson s trichrome staining identified subepithelial collagen bands as thick as 25 pm in every specimen, consistent with collagenous colitis. Lansoprazole was withdrawn, and within a few days the watery diarrhea disappeared. Colonoscopy 2 months later showed a reduction in the number of red spots. Biopsies from the cecum, ascending, transverse, and descending colons, and rectum, showed no collagen bands. [Pg.565]

Iron overload following dietary administration of dicyclopentadienyl iron (ferrocene) becomes primarily evident in hepatocytes with only a small amount present in Kupffer cells (Valerio and Petersen 2000). A striking pattern of iron deposition occurred in ferrocene-fed mice as evidenced by large circular deposits of haemosiderin in the cen-trilobular hepatocytes. Masson s trichrome stain revealed a mild increase in fiver collagen associated with iron-loaded centrilobular hepatocytes. Hy-droxyproline was significantly (P < 0.05) increased. Malondialdehyde concentrations as a marker of lipid peroxidation were increased fourfold (P < 0.05). [Pg.632]

Masson s trichrome staining, as well as TEM observation. In this chapter, a systematic investigation and comparison of nerve repair is made using scaffolds made from PUCL-fl/t-PEG, PUCL-ran-PEG, autograft, PCL, silicone tube, and negative control in an SD rat model. [Pg.601]
