Masking tapes

Flange taping Apply masking tape to all pipe and vessel flanges. Same as in Step 1. Seal space between flanges and punch 1.5mm hole in tape for monitoring leaks.

The second path in Fig. 3 outlines the approach to a more robust tape designed by Drew [21]. Here the milled rubber and filler are combined with tackifiers and other additives/stabilizers in an intensive dispersing step, such as a Mogul or Banbury mixer. Next, a phenolic resin or an alternative crosslinker is added and allowed to react with the rubber crosslinker to a point somewhat short of crosslinking. Satas provides the formula for construction grade masking tape in Table 13 ([196], pp. 276-278). 

Binder formulas for carpet backing, aluminum foil to paper, vinyl flooring, tire cord, paper labeling, masking tape, and oriented polypropylene tape applications are available from Midgley and Rea in Skiest [215].

Workers associated with the application of carbaryl (applicator, mixer-loader, bystander and aerial flagger) and re-entry workers (apple thinners) were monitored by a modification of the procedure of Durham and Wolfe (3).
