Manipulation of Crystal Size Distributions

Due to the difficulty of transferring the results of measurements of the population balance to the large-scale installation, in the field of crystallization plant constmction it has so far not been reasonable to carry out any simulation of crystallization results (crystal size, crystal size distribution) for industrial-scale planning. On the other hand, it is certainly possible to imagine simulations of the operational behavior of large-scale crystallizers for overload or partial load conditions on the basis of the population balance. 

The fact that the population balance is clearly able to determine the influences on particle size distribution is shown, for example, by the effects produced by the fines dissolution and the classification of product during withdrawal.
