Mange mites

In Central and South America the torsalo, screwworm, and cattle ticks are responsible for a large part of the injury attributable to external parasites. The bloodsucking flies, lice, and mange mites also are present and cause significant losses to growers of cattle and the wooled animals. [Pg.102]

Pongamia pinnata, Cedrus deodara, Eucalyptus globulus). They have been tested against various mange mites associated with different hosts (i.e. see [213-217]). [Pg.417]

Mites Sarccoptes scabiei var suis (burrowing mange mite). [Pg.190]

Products and Uses An acaricide. Kills mange mites. [Pg.89]

A number of essential oils have been found to have effective acaricidal activity against infections in the animal world. Recent examples include Origanum onites against cattle ticks (Coskun et al., 2008) and Cinnamomum zeylanicum against rabbit mange mites (Fichi et al., 2007). In comparison to veterinary research, there have been few investigations into human acaricidal infections. [Pg.398]

Chorioptes mites preferentially attack the fetlocks and the base of the tail, where they chew at the skin surface, thus causing inflammations, scaly lesions and a powdery coating. The so-called foot and rump or tail mange can occur in the horse, sheep but especially in dairy cows. [Pg.410]

Mites are responsible for mange or scabies. This dermatitic disease is characterized by itching, alopecia (baldness) and hyperplasia (excessive tissue formation) of the epidermis with consequent scaling off of the superficial skin layers. Rubbing and scratching by the host to relieve the itching can result in deeper wounds which are open to bacterial complications. Psoroptic mange in sheep is particularly destructive and is notifiable in Britain. [Pg.216]

The control of lice, mites and warbleflies continues to be achieved by the older agents. The selection pressure that caused resistance in cattle ticks and sheep blowfly has not been encountered by these other ectoparasites since their less frequent incidence has required less insecticide/acaricide usage. In addition to the OPs, rotenone (92) (the active principle of derris), an uncoupler of oxidative phosphorylation, continues to be used to combat mange. [Pg.218]

The face Hy and house Hy are currently control led by insecticides and sanitation. Numerous species of ticks cause extensive losses to cattle producers and are controlled by repeated insecticide treatments, as are cattle lice, mange, scab and itch mites. [Pg.293]

Scabies is caused by the itch mite Sarcoptes scabiei, which affects both humans and animals. Mange in domestic animals is caused by the same organism. Infection usually affects the interdigital and popliteal folds, axillary folds, the nmbihcus, and the scrotum. ." )... [Pg.2076]
