Manganese-zinc ferrite

A common function of circuits is the provision of an accurate resonance state. For instance, for a resonance frequency to stay within a tolerance of 0.1% over a temperature range of 100 K a temperature coefficient of less than 10 MK 1 would be required. It might be achieved in the 10-100 kHz range by using a manganese zinc ferrite pot-core inductor (see Section 9.5.1) with a small positive temperature coefficient of inductance combined with a ceramic capacitor having an equal, but negative, temperature coefficient. This is clear from the resonance condition...

A bare ferrite can be a rather good electrical conductor, especially if it is the more commonly used manganese-zinc ferrite (as opposed to nickel-zinc formulations).

Manganese-zinc ferrites (Zn Mni jcFe204) and nickel-zinc ferrites are industrially important magnetic materials. The former are used when constructing the cores of intermediate-frequency transformers, inductors, loudspeakers and other electromagnetic devices, while the latter have found application in the modern electronics industry, due primarily to their high electrical resistivity. 

Ferrites are other materials, which constitute predominantly oxides of Fe along other oxides of Ba, Sr, Mn, Ni, Zn, Li and Cd.
