Management oversight and risk tree MORT program

In 1973 a revised management oversight and risk tree (MORT) manual was published by the AEC. Even though Johnson borrowed heavily from existing DOD and NASA programs, his MORT program bore little resemblance to programs based on MIL-STD-882 (Johnson 1973). 

Another major approach tends to be very different from other efforts described. The Department of Energy s approach is based on the management oversight and risk tree (MORT), a comprehensive, state-of-the-art program for safety management and system safety. 

Change analysis is one of the techniques associated with the Department of Energy s management oversight and risk tree (MORT) approach to system safety. Unlike the MORT chart itself or some of the other tools and techniques associated with the MORT program, change analysis is a very simple, straightforward process that is relatively quick and easy to learn and to apply. 

Another method closely related to system safety methods is Management Oversight and Risk Tree. MORT involves two items a diagram and a process. W. G. Johnson created the first MORT program in 1971 in the Department of Energy.
